2025 Spring into Wellness Week

Monday, April 7 through Friday, April 11

Enjoy free and fun fitness, health, and educational programming throughout the week. Information about each wellness week session, the Spring Wellness Fair, and the Be Well Community Wellness Day can be found below and on Swat Central. We hope you can join us for some or all of the great events we have lined up!

Registration is not required, but please take a moment to complete this interest form by Thursday, April 3 to indicate your interest in the wellness fair, the arboretum walking tours, the cooking demo, and the sound bath session so that we can anticipate how many community members will join us for those programs.

Financial Wellness: Developing a Savings Strategy, noon-1 p.m.

Achieving financial wellness requires thoughtful planning and preparation. During this virtual training with an expert from our Employee Assistance Program, Carebridge, we will review how to create a spending plan, explore the basics of investing, and address the risks and rewards associated with various savings and investment choices.

Scott Arboretum Guided Walking Tour, 1-1:40 p.m.

Get your steps in, enjoy being in nature, and learn about the various plants on College grounds. Meet at the Rose Garden on the east side of Parrish Hall.

Registration is not required, but we would appreciate it if you would indicate interest through the Spring into Wellness Week form so we know how many participants to expect.

Healthy Cooking Demonstration with Swarthmore’s Executive Chef, 2-3 p.m.

The College’s own Chef Tom Ramsey will demonstrate how to make a delicious healthy meal. The menu will include a vegan kale caesar salad, berbere chicken with sweet potato and lentil hash, garlic and rosemary seasoned green beans, and a fruit and greek yogurt parfait. You’ll get to sample each dish and leave with all. This session takes place in the Teaching Kitchen on the second floor of the Dining Center.

How to Manage Anxiety, Fear, and Stress, 1-2 p.m.

Our mental health is greatly influenced by world events and situations. This training with an expert from our Employee Assistance Program, Carebridge, addresses how we respond to critical incidents, world events, and trying times. Learn how we can manage stress to better cope, practice self-care, and help those we care about.

Time Management Strategies, 2-3 p.m.

Effective time management can lead to lower stress and increase work-life balance. In this virtual session, Lindsay Raclaw, learning & development management, will have participants explore strategies for prioritizing task lists and email inboxes, use of scheduling techniques such as time blocking to encourage deep focus, and how to incorporate time to rest and recharge into our busy lives.

Participants will receive the Zoom link upon registration.

Sleep Hygiene for Better Health, 11 a.m.-noon

Quality sleep is so important to your well being, and many of us are not getting enough. Over time, shortened sleep cycles of all types can cause serious damage. Healthy Measures, an IBX Wellness partner, will be explaining how to clean up your sleep routine to improve your health and emotional regulation, decrease your risk of stroke and heart disease, enhance your immune system, and so much more!

Intuitive Eating: How to Make Peace with Food, noon-1 p.m.

Participate in this virtual session hosted by Healthy Measures, an IBX Wellness partner, to learn how to trust your body’s cues for nourishment to quiet the noise of diet culture and lean into wellness from a place of radical self-care. Intuitive eating is more than just a buzzword, more than just a trend, it is a lifestyle change that will forever shift your understanding of food and eating.

Sound Bath Meditation Class, 4:45-5:45 p.m.

Sound bath meditation is an ancient practice that uses a variety of instruments to create a landscape of sound that brings deep states of relaxation and meditation. This session will be facilitated by Healthy Measures, an IBX Wellness partner. Join us in the Matchbox Tarble Commons on the 3rd floor of the Matchbox.

Spring Wellness Fair, Noon-3 p.m.

Join us in Upper Tarble in Clothier Hall for our annual Spring Wellness fair! At the fair you’ll be able to:

  • Meet Swarthmore College’s wellness partners* and ask questions.
  • Vision screenings.
  • Enjoy a 10-minute massage.
  • Sample salads and healthy snacks.
  • Create your own essential oil (first 100 participants).
  • Plant a succulent, herb, or flower in a clay pot that you can paint, and it’s yours to keep (first 75 participants).
  • Speak to health and wellness practitioners with expertise in growth mindset, aromatherapy, and nutrition.
  • Win great raffle prizes!

Be Well Community Wellness Day, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

The first ever Be Well Community Wellness Day is an opportunity for students, staff, and faculty to participate in a wide range of activities, including yoga, sound bath, massages, afro-dance, drum circle, yard games, dessert trucks and more. Look out for more information from the Student Health and Wellness team, who are organizing this event, soon!

Meditate for Stress Relief, 11 a.m.-noon

Stress can decrease productivity, disrupt healthy relationships, invite disease and mess up your day! Meditation can be a great tool to ease stress. This interactive class hosted by Healthy Measures, an IBX Wellness partner, will answer all your questions about mediation and end in a relaxing guided meditation experience designed to inspire you to develop your own practice.
