First Math Class at Swarthmore: Math 015
What was your favorite math class and why? Modern Algebra. I learned lots of terminology that makes me sound like a real mathematician.
Why did you become a math major? I took a few math courses as prerequisites for my chemistry major, and realized I liked the Math Classes as much as the Chemistry classes.
How do you expect to use your mathematics after leaving Swarthmore? I'm hoping to work as a theoretical Chemist, which requires a lot of multivariable calculus and linear algebra (and surprisingly some abstract algebra). So those three classes will come in handy.
What advice do you have for an incoming student? Go to office hours. Read over exams before turning them in.
Anything else you'd like to share? I wouldn't be a math major if not for the awesome department. I didn't know math could be fun to learn until coming here.
