For Students

The Lang Center helps students realize their fullest intellectual and personal potential combined with a deep sense of ethical and social concern. We exist, in part, to "prepare and motivate students to understand and engage issues of civic and social concern and…to set their own paths towards shaping a more just and compassionate world (Lang Center Endowment Agreement, November 20, 2003).” How do we do this? By providing funding, expert advising in “best practices,” and connections to partners on and off campus.* In other words, we provide the financial, human, and social capital necessary for students to connect the 3 c's: campus, curriculum, and community.

Connect with a Peer!

The Lang Center Associates (LCAs) are issue-based student ambassadors and act as a living resource and embodiment of Engaged Scholarship. LCAs are available to advise fellow students on how to link their passions, curricular choices, and community engagement opportunities!

Note: The Lang Center exists to support all Swarthmore students, regardless of political affiliations or views, age, color, disability, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or veteran status. If you are an international student (on an F1 or J1 visa) considering opportunities to work off campus (in either a paid or unpaid position), please contact International Student Center (internationalcenter@swarthmore.edu) *before* you accept any positions to ensure you maintain your legal status.
