Staff Promotion Policy
Swarthmore College is committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity and equity for all staff by committing to fair and equitable employment practices, including those related to promotional opportunities. The following policy has been developed in order to ensure standardized promotional guidelines and expectations for the College.
Opportunities for advancement via promotion will be considered twice a year. A Request for Staff Promotion form [PDF], a resume for employees hired prior to 2018 (a resume is requested to ensure an equitable compensation review. Employees do not need to create a new resume for this purpose, rather the supervisor may submit the resume used at the time of hire), an updated position description, and an organizational chart are required to be completed and submitted for consideration. All promotional requests must follow the guidelines outlined here.
Final approval will be determined by Human Resources following consultation with the appropriate President’s Staff member.
