Fulbright Language Evaluations

Applicants to Fulbright grants proposing projects in Spanish speaking countries need a language evaluation as part of the application materials. The department of Spanish will offer these evaluations to students and alumni who have taken courses in Spanish during their career at Swarthmore. For students and alumni who have not taken Spanish at the College, we will require a placement exam to determine the four linguistic skills (speaking, listening, writing and reading) of the person being evaluated. A statement clearly specifying no previous acquaintance with the student/alumni will be part of the evaluation; such a statement may negatively impact the student’s application.
