Alumni Story: Jane Liu '00

Jane Liu graduated High Honors from Swarthmore College in 2000 with a major in Biochemistry. While at Swarthmore she did research and completed an Honors Thesis in the lab of Professor Bob Paley. Following Swarthmore Jane earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Harvard University where she was awarded an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. Following her Ph.D. she was a NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at Tufts. She joined the faculty of Pomona College in the Department of Chemistry in 2012. As a faculty member she has been awarded a highly competitive NSF CAREER Award, a Wig Distinguished Professor Award for Excellence in Teaching and a Henry Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award. In 2018 Jane was awarded tenure at Pomona and promoted to Associate Professor. Jane's research program at Pomona focuses on molecular and chemical biology approaches to studying RNA.
