Kathy Pearson Glennan ’82
Kathy Pearson Glennan ’82 is a recipient of the A. Ralph Papakhian Special Achievement award, given by the Music Library Association (MLA). The award recognizes those who demonstrate “extraordinary service to the profession of music librarianship.” Glennan is a music cataloger and head of Metadata Creation and Enhancement at the University of Maryland. She earned a master of library sciences degree from the University of California–Los Angeles. Robert Follet, publicity and outreach officer of the MLA, praises Glennan’s conviction that “what she does matters.” Glennan is honored for her steadfast representation of the interests of music catalogers and users alike. Glennan was also appointed to a three-year term on the American Library Association’s representative to the Joint Steering Committee for the Development of RDA (Resource Description and Access), the group that oversees development of the new cataloging standard which provides guidelines on data to support resource discovery across all types of content and media.
