Garikai Campbell ’90
Garikai Campbell ’90 was recently named provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Morehouse College, a private, all-male, liberal arts college in Atlanta. A mathematics major here, he earned a Ph.D. in that field from Rutgers University. He joined the Swarthmore mathematics faculty in 1997. Besides teaching, he was associate dean of academic affairs, acting dean of students, associate vice president for strategic planning, and special assistant to the president. At Morehouse, Campbell will direct all aspects of academic programs including student learning, faculty, curricula, research, and special academic programs. “His commitment to undergraduate education in all areas, but especially the sciences, is unwavering,” says President Rebecca Chopp. “I have no doubt he will continue to expand access and achievement in the liberal arts and have a similar, if not greater, impact in his new role at Morehouse.”
