2024 Summer Housing
Summer Housing is offered from May 24, 2024 - August 3, 2024. Students who have received a summer opportunity from the College receive priority status for summer housing reservations so long as all steps in the process are completed in a timely fashion. Failure to apply for housing in a timely manner may result in lack of summer housing availability or may result in you being placed on a housing waitlist. The Summer Housing application will be available in your Housing Portal beginning in March 2024.
Summer Housing is available to students who are members of the Class of ‘25, ‘26 and ‘27. Members of the Class of 2024 and students who are not currently enrolled at the College are not eligible for summer housing.
The default summer housing term is 10 weeks. Students may select a shorter summer term of 8 or 9 weeks, and are eligible for a prorated rent. There is no additional proration for terms shorter than 8 weeks during the summer. Students who accept a summer opportunity are not required to live in summer housing.
For summer 2024, the 10-week window for housing is: Fri, May 24 - Sat, August 3, 2024.
Students who choose a reduced stay of 8 or 9 weeks between the established housing dates will be prorated accordingly. When reserving summer housing, please select one of the options below:

Students who need housing outside the dates listed above should consider off campus housing options.
The summer housing rent includes a small meal plan to help subsidize your meal costs during the summer term. Specific hours of operation and total number of meals available will be shared closer to the beginning of the summer term. The meals provided are not meant to be a full meal plan and students should budget separately for meal costs during the summer term.
Please note: summer housing is prioritized for students who have received Swarthmore College sponsored summer opportunities. Depending on the number of students (with summer opportunities) who accept summer housing, space may be available for students who have not accepted College sponsored opportunities. Summer opportunities will be verified with respective offices/departments listed on the summer housing reservation form that students received via email.
Students who choose to live in summer housing may be required to move multiple times throughout the dates listed above. Students must also be available during the following dates to complete moves:
- May 17 - May 28
- August 2 - August 3
Payments for summer housing will be made through the Housing Portal and final rent payments must be submitted no later than 8:00am on July 1, 2024.
We hope to finalize Summer Housing assignments by early May. Students living in summer housing may be assigned to a single, double, or larger occupancy rooms in a variety of residence halls. Summer residence hall assignments are based on the total number of summer housing applications received and the Residence Hall Renewal plans.
