Hansi Wang ’09 has received the National Public Radio (NPR) Kroc Fellowship, which includes a stipend of more than $40,000. Fellows complete an intensive, hands-on training program to learn about all aspects of public journalism today, from researching, interviewing, and broadcasting to digital news and multimedia production. Wang will have the opportunity to work alongside top professionals in Washington, D.C., and at an NPR member station. At Swarthmore, Wang was a Lang Scholar and founded the Chinatown Youth Radio Philadelphia Project. He says, “I caught the public radio bug and fell in love with storytelling through audio after working on War News Radio as a producer.” He also views journalism as “a great way to continue my liberal arts education after Swarthmore.” Last year, through the Philly Fellows program, Wang completed a one-year fellowship as refugee housing coordinator for the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society and the Council Migration Service of Philadelphia.

It's been fantastic hearing Hansi on NPR…you have honed a wonderful speaking skill in telling stories through journalism…I remember your caring volunteer work and acting in high school drama club…keep speakiing and using your thinking skill…best wishes
