John Bartle ’79
John Bartle ’79 has been elected a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA), which provides advice to government agencies on issues of governance and public management. As a fellow, Bartle will address emerging issues and contribute to the intellectual and popular discourse on government. Bartle is director of the School of Public Administration and the David Scott Diamond Alumni Professor of Public Affairs at the University of Nebraska–Omaha (UNO). He is also a part-time professor at the Center for Public Administration at Zhongshan University in Guangzhou, China. His current research focuses on sustainability in transportation, public financial management, and tax policy. Bartle has co-authored the book Sustainable Development for Public Administration and edited the book Evolving Theories of Public Budgeting. Past awards have included the Chancellor’s Step Up Award and the College of Public Affairs and Community Service Outstanding Teaching Award. Bartle has served as an elected member of the National Council of the American Society for Public Administration and chair of the Association for Budgeting and Financial Management.
