Swarthmore College seeks to foster an academic and intellectual community that is cooperative and collaborative. This commitment is evident in the varied peer mentoring opportunities afforded to students, many of whom become Writing Associates, Student Academic Mentors, departmental peer assistants, and much more.

Swarthmore students are also involved in nearby communities, such as Chester and Philadelphia, putting engaged scholarship into action as tutors, mentors, and collaborators.
