Biographical Statement
Professor Brian Meunier has been working in sculpture for over twenty-five years. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts in 1976, and a Master of Fine Arts from Tyler School of Art in 1978. In 1979, he began his teaching career at Swarthmore College, where he is currently Full Professor of Studio Arts and Chair of the Art Department. He has been the recipient of numerous fellowships and grants, notably two Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Fellowships in 1983 and 1989, and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in 1984.
In addition to his work in sculpture, Professor Meunier is also a published children's fiction writer, in collaboration with his wife Perky Edgerton. The first book entitled Pipiolo and the Roof Dogs was published in the fall of 2004 by Dutton Publishing a division of Penguin/Puttnam Publishing. The second book, Bravo Tavo, will be publishd spring of 2007.
