Brendan Carr is a Sustainability & Engaged Scholarship Fellow at Swarthmore College. In this role, he supports the Office of Sustainability's zero waste program and the Lang Center for Civic & Social Responsibility's political participation, engaged humanities, journalism, and communications initiatives, fostering the college’s commitments to intersectional sustainability and engaged scholarship. He serves as a member of the college's internal Zero Waste Working Group and co-coordinates the Regional Zero Waste Campus Collaborative, a group of local colleges and universities that share knowledge on zero waste programming and policies. In addition, Brendan serves as a mentor to students in the Sustainability Advocates and President's Sustainability Research Fellowship programs.

A suburban Philadelphia native, Brendan graduated summa cum laude from Dickinson College in 2022, earning a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Theatre Arts, as well as a Certificate in Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Prior to joining Swarthmore, Brendan worked as the Media Relations Associate for the Delaware Riverkeeper Network and interned with the Environmental Peacebuilding Association and Synergy Environmental. During his time at Dickinson, Brendan served as a Dana Research Assistant for the Department of Environmental Studies and as a Special Interest House Manager with the Residence Life & Housing Office.

Brendan was inducted into Dickinson’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa and is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta and the National Society of Leadership and Success. He contributed research on theories of change for the Design chapter of the Toolkit on Monitoring and Evaluation of Environmental Peacebuilding, a collaborative publication by the Environmental Law Institute, the Environmental Peacebuilding Association, and the United States Institute of Peace.
