Although Rachell had a four hour round trip commute from Hempstead, she still managed to be very active at school. She was Co-President and Co-Founder of Living in Color, President of the Poetry Club/ Literary Magazine, Co-leader of the multi-cultural club and a peer leader. She also participated in a debate-orientated summer program, Model UN and played basketball. At Swarthmore, Rachell is an active member of the Swarthmore Labor Action Project (SLAP!), Revolutionaries of Color (RoC), as well as other groups centered on the inclusion and support of students of color.
