Evans Alumni: In Their Own Words
Rhiannon Graybill '06
"I am proudest of founding TOPSoccer with fellow Evans Scholar Ryan Kuker '06. The planning was frequently frustrating, but it was all worth it when we got to see our first class of kids learning to play soccer (or to chase soccer balls, or their buddies). I also love seeing the parents relaxing on the sidelines, and the Swarthmore volunteers learning to interact with their athletes." more

"Introduction to Neurobiology, the most transformative class I took at Swarthmore, was a whirlwind tour through the techniques and ideas of modern neuroscience. The theme of the class was, we have almost no clue what is going on in the brain of any animal, even simple ones like leeches or flies. It conveyed awe." more

"The Evans Scholar program was a cornerstone of my Swarthmore experience. Thoughtful guidance from my Evans advisers spanning many aspects of life on and off campus complemented recommendations from my academic advisor, which created a sound path for me at Swarthmore." more

"I learned from every professor that passion for what you do translates to success. I remember thoroughly enjoying some classes only to realize later that they were the toughest concepts. The passion they demonstrated in their teaching made love their subject! I knew then that's how I wanted to teach my future patients. I wanted to be able to sell to my patients the need to take care of themselves for themselves." more
