Sudarshan is currently the Head of Football Intelligence at Atalanta, an Italian soccer club that competes in Serie A -- the top division of soccer in the country. His role is akin to an AGM role at an American sports organization. Sudarshan uses statistical models in his daily workflow to help a high performance results-driven organization think in "expected value" rather than in black/white terms of win or lose. Prior to Atalanta, he was the Head of Sports Data Science at SL Benfica (Lisbon, Portugal). Aside from his natural passion in soccer, he enjoys the challenge of bringing 'Moneyball' style thinking to Europe as there are cultural differences in how decisions are made. While he is far from an expert, he believes this challenge allows him to appreciate the nexus of a Swarthmore math degree and a liberal arts approach to teaching/learning.  Feel free to reach out as he is always happy to make time for a phone call to Swarthmore students to talk about data analytics and travel tips.
