Partnering with Career Services

To assist our students in planning for life after Swarthmore, we collaborate with Career Services staff to develop and support events and workshops that seek to provide our students with tools and opportunities that can foster their success.

Externships

During one-week externships, students are matched with mentors who allow the students to experience a particular profession and/or organizational culture. Externships can be a great way to focus your interests and develop networks to pursue summer internships or future job opportunities. The college sponsors an externship week the week before the start of the spring semester. A mandatory orientation to the program is held the first week of October; applications are due mid-October.

Career Paths

Throughout the academic year, in fields that may be of interest to our students, the English Literature department brings to campus a range of speakers to share details of their career paths and to answer questions students have about their own career aspirations.
