Exam Information
All candidates for teacher certification must complete a series of exams in order to qualify for a certificate. The department recommends that candidates register and/or complete the PAPA exams during the summer months prior to the fall semester of student teaching. Click on the appropriate links below for more details on the tests that must be completed.
All students applying for certification must demonstrate competency in the basic skills of reading, writing, and mathematics. Students can demonstrate competency in two ways:
- By reporting acceptable scores on the SAT or the ACT Plus Writing.
- By taking the Pre-Service Academic Performance Assessment (PAPA) modules in reading, writing, and mathematics.
