The College hosted an in-person celebration of the Class of 2021 on Sunday, May 30, and a virtual Commencement ceremony on Sunday, June 6.
Of the 342 graduates, 326 received the Bachelor of Arts degree and 23 the Bachelor of Science in engineering degree. A total of 61 students received honors.
Six seniors — Kelly Finke '21, Zane Meyer '21, Sierra Mondragon 21, Yifan Ping '21, Shayena Shah, 21 and Matthew Salah '21 — received special awards.
President Valerie Smith awarded honorary degrees to philosopher Elizabeth Anderson ’81, U.S. Assistant Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine, and filmmaker Dawn Porter ’88.
The virtual ceremony included a performance of "On the Day We Are Together Again" by the Swarthmore College Chorus, a Baccalaureate address by Alexander Griswold Cummins Professor of English Literature Natalie Anderson, a senior address by Hannah Watkins '21, and a musical performance by Grace Dumdaw '21 and Marcos R. Castro '22.
The in-person celebration featured a faculty address by Associate Professor of Political Science Ayse Kaya and a senior address by Tiara Tillis '21.
