Receptions to Highlight College’s New Directions
President Rebecca Chopp hosted an event on Sept. 10 in Washington, D.C., for alumni, parents, and friends as the first in a series of receptions around the country. The 2012-13 receptions will highlight new initiatives that have resulted from the College’s strategic-planning process. In Washington, President Chopp was joined by Professor of History Tim Burke, who discussed Swarthmore’s new Institute for the Liberal Arts.
Receptions will occur in eight more cities this academic year. Below is a tentative schedule:
Nov. 1—Philadelphia
Nov. 28—Boston
Jan. 24—New Haven, Conn.
Feb. 5—Atlanta
Feb. 26—San Francisco
March 14—Minneapolis
March 26—New York City
April 8—Pittsburgh
