In June, first-year students Deborah Krieger, Rebecca Magier, and Laina Chin attended a gathering with alumni in Los Angeles just before heading for Swarthmore.
Alumni around the country welcomed incoming students and their parents to the Swarthmore community over the summer. Five send-off events were held—in San Francisco, New York City, Los Angeles, Durham, N.C,. and Washington, D.C. Attendance was the highest in recent memory, with D.C. leading with 41 participants, 12 of whom were first-year students. Many thanks to hosts Jennifer Hourihan Bailin ’80, Ellen Daniell ’69, Deborah How ’89, George Telford ’84, and Lucinda Lewis ’70.
