William McNagny ’44
William McNagny ’44 was recently named a Legendary Lawyer by the Indiana Bar Foundation. The award recognizes lawyers who have practiced for more than 50 years and whose work has shown the highest commitment to professionalism and the legal profession. During his long career, he became known as one of the premier litigators and courtroom orators in Indiana. His firm calls him “a commanding presence in the courtroom, a pillar of the legal profession, and a man devoted to his community and his family.” McNagny was an active member of the Indiana State and County Bar associations, past president of the Indiana State Board of Law Examiners, and a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Academy of Trial Lawyers. McNagny says, “Lawyers who love the law and its mission remain the greatest bulwark of personal freedom.” He joined the firm Barrett & McNagny LLP after receiving a juris doctorate from the Indiana University School of Law.
