Michal Zadara ’99
Michal Zadara ’99 recently won the annual Passport Award for Theater in Warsaw for his directorial work to date, consisting of 12 professional productions in Poland and Germany since 2004, including his debut at the National Theater in Warsaw last year. The prestige of the Passport Award, given by the weekly news magazine Polityka, is comparable to the Pulitzer Prize or National Book Award. The award’s citation notes Zadara’s “impressive creative output” and “how his productions restore faith in theater as a space for artistic freedom.” A separate section of this year’s National Theater festival was dedicated to Zadara’s productions in Warsaw this past spring. His next production will premiere at Israel’s HaBimah National Theater in the fall.
