Join the programs in Dance and Black Studies, and the Swarthmore College Library as they celebrate the challenging life and career of Joan Myers Brown, the founder of the Philadelphia Dance Company (PHILADANCO) and the Philadelphia School of Dance Arts. Across the nation and around the world, PHILADANCO is celebrated for its innovation, creativity and preservation of predominantly African-American traditions in dance.
Joan Myers Brown's talk will follow the screening of her autobiographical film, Standing at the Edge: We Dance.
