Course Major

Requirements

Students must complete a minimum of 8 credits in courses numbered ARAB 003 or above. The sequential Intensive Intermediate (ARAB 003, ARAB 004) and Advanced Arabic (ARAB 011, ARAB 012) courses are required, unless a student places directly into one of the courses higher than ARAB 003.

Arabic Majors are required to take in a minimum of two Advanced Arabic Language Seminars. These courses include: ARAB 021, 022, 023, 025, 029, 030, 041. Students are strongly encouraged to study abroad in a section-approved program; a maximum of 3 transfer credits may be counted towards the major.

Arabic Majors are strongly encouraged to take other Arabic courses focused on Conversational Arabic, Media Arabic, Colloquial Dialect(s), and Literature in Translation.
