Lectures, Tours, and Skill Sharing Workshops
Visitors during Spring Arts Celebration have opportunities to attend lectures by world-class speakers, take campus tours, be led through Crum Woods, and participate in hands-on demonstrations by Swarthmore professors and students.
Past Spring Arts Celebration Lectures:
- Sarah Kay - spoken word poet and founder and co-director of Project V.O.I.C.E., a group dedicated to using spoken word as an educational and inspirational tool
- Toni Morrison - Nobel laureate and Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist
- Daisy Fried '89 - A poet, Fried has authored three books of poetry: She Didn't Mean to Do It (2000), winner of the Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize from University of Pittsburgh Press; My Brother is Getting Arrested Again (2006), a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Awards; and Women's Poetry: Poems and Advice (2013).
- Karin Chien - Filmmaker Chien spoke about her experiences and screened Untitled (Structures) and Chinatown Film Project
