Socialization to Nonviolence
My research put diverse fields and sectors into conversation with one another regarding the knowledge and transfer of knowledge of nonviolent values and skills. Through personal and focus group interviews this project investigates the similarities in values and techniques groups employ to socialize members to nonviolence. The project obtained reflections from experts in various fields including religion, education, publishing, and youth development programs. These were then compared with the case study in Cape Town, South Africa. Prominent techniques include a new setting, structure coupled with challenge, and experiential learning. One common value among these groups is their respect for diversity. These are the findings I choose to speak about but there are many more!
