Achieving Biker Safety Through User Centered Design
This project takes a user centered design approach towards biker safety. It focuses specifically on bike lights and is examining what actually makes a ‘safe’ light. This process has included 14 interviews with users, extensive background research as to products currently available, and will have a grounding in a practical experiment testing light perception. Through these forms of data collection, along with speaking with professors from different disciplines, I created a physical prototype of the bike light system which includes a dynamic lighting process that reacts to ambient light conditions, a battery level notification system, and a user preferred mounting system. While the project is still in progress, it will be completed by the end of the semester.
