Studio art thesis show of ceramic sculpture (currently unnamed)
My thesis project is gallery show of roughly thirty ceramic sculptures. In my work, I draw inspiration from ambiguous organic forms, looking for similarities amongst natural structures like trees and bones, veins and flowers, or coral and cell tissue. My sculptures are also shaped by my medium’s distinct qualities: working from a basic idea, I use clay to experiment and push my initial concept. Through my sculptures, I celebrate the beauty and ambiguity of nature, but also the versatile and fantastical abilities of stoneware outside of function. My works are on display in the List Gallery April 19th - 23rd.
