My journey within Swarthmore’s dance department taught me that differences I once saw as impeding my ability as a dancer turned out to be some of my most special parts. This inspired me to create my work, entitled Collectivity, that showcases the beauty and strength of 3 female dancers of different backgrounds. The piece highlights their individual identities throughout movement and the power that is ignited when the three come together to form one whole. Overall, this piece looks at what strengthens community and what community means to the individual.
