Important Power Outage Update - Sept. 16, 2022

Update: 10:46 p.m.

Power was fully restored to campus on Friday, Sept. 16 at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Update: 4:07 p.m.

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff Members,

We are writing to share that we have identified the cause of the power outage that affected numerous campus buildings today, and power is currently being restored to all locations with the exception of Kohlberg Hall. A piece of equipment needed to restore power to Kohlberg is en route, and we hope to have everything back up and running later this evening.

We understand how disruptive this situation is for many of you, and we want to thank you again for your patience and understanding as we work to resolve the issue and fully restore power to campus.

Thank you,

Rob Goldberg

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff Members,

I am writing to share that we have identified the cause of the power outage that affected numerous campus buildings today. Fortunately, power has been restored to the following locations:

  • Clothier Hall
  • Dana Hall
  • Danawell Hall
  • Hallowell Hall
  • The Intercultural Center
  • Lang Performing Arts Center
  • Parrish Hall
  • Wharton Hall

Power remains out at:

  • Beardsley Hall
  • Cornell Library
  • Kohlberg Hall
  • Lang Music
  • Martin Hall
  • Scott Map House
  • Sharples Lane Houses 1-4

We anticipate that power will be restored to these buildings within the hour, with the exception of Kohlberg Hall. A piece of equipment needed to restore power to Kohlberg is en route, and we hope to have everything back up and running later this evening. We understand how disruptive this situation is for many of you, and we want to thank you again for your patience and understanding as we work to resolve the issue and fully restore power to campus.

Update: 10:45 a.m.

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff Members,

We are writing with an update on the current power outage on campus. Power remains out at the following buildings on campus:

  • Beardsley
  • Clothier
  • Cornell Library
  • Dana
  • Danawell
  • Hallowell
  • Kohlberg
  • Lang Music
  • LPAC
  • Martin
  • Parrish
  • Wharton

All other buildings are unaffected.

The facilities team is working as quickly as possible to identify the source of the problem, but at this point we expect power to remain out for at least the next several hours and possibly through the remainder of the day. Obviously, this will continue to disrupt classes and other activities until power is restored. If possible, we encourage faculty affected by this outage to make alternative arrangements with their students.

While we continue to identify the source of the problem, it appears as though the network and services including Zoom and Moodle, will remain available in campus buildings that have power.  Faculty members are encouraged to offer leniency to students who are unable to connect to reliable wifi on campus.

Staff members working in the buildings affected are encouraged to go home for the day. Those who are able to work remotely should do so. Those who are unable to work remotely will be granted administrative leave time, which will not impact your leave time.

We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.

Thank you for your patience and understanding,

Rob Goldberg
Vice President for Finance and Administration
