Mac Evans is the co-founder and director of the Philadelphia-based Casual Fifth Taiko and Dance ensemble. Additionally, he performs with Taikoza (NYC) and was previously part of Soh Daiko (NYC) and Rutsubo Taiko (Boston). He is currently the Taiko artist in residence at Shofuso Japanese Garden in Philadelphia, where he teaches summer public workshops. 

Mac’s approach to taiko is influenced by several taiko mentors between NYC and Japan, as well as knowledge from modern dance, somatic techniques, and biomechanics.
