Karolina Hicke researches 20th- and 21st-century German literature and culture, with an emphasis on migration, minority discourses, memory, and gender. In addition to courses in German language and culture, she teaches classes on refugees, the Holocaust, environmentalism, and fairy tales. Her current book project examines post-Soviet German Jewish literature, focusing on how migration shapes its themes and forms. She explores how authors engage with public and media debates and extend their work into nonfiction across genres—including writing tandems, edited volumes, and activist projects.
