Interests: 17th and 18th century, ancient, and 20th century analytic philosophy, metaphysics. Ph.D. Brown University.
I’m a Professor of Philosophy at Swarthmore College. Lately, I work on figures familiar in the history of Ancient, Modern, and 20th Century Philosophy: Socrates, Descartes, and Moore. My teaching includes courses and seminars in Modern 17th & 18th Century Philosophy, Metaphysics, Philosophy of Mind, and Theory of Knowledge. I have taught Philosophy at, among others, Cambridge University, The University of Iowa, and Brown University where I did my Ph.D.
