Welcome Future Swatties to Campus!
Dear Friends,
During the next couple of weeks, we will host two admitted student events, Swatlight and Swatstruck, to welcome prospective students and their families to campus. They’ll take place on April 13-14, and again on April 20-21.
As many of our current students will recall, these visits are an exciting and important part of the journey to a decision on where to attend college. They give future students and families an opportunity to explore campus, meet with professors, and hear from current students about what it’s like to be a Swattie.
It’s also a great opportunity for us to show what a welcoming, creative, and inclusive community Swarthmore is — bound by our passion for curiosity, learning, and a commitment to the common good. Please consider ways you might make our guests feel welcome: Greet a passing family, offer directions to those who are finding their way around campus, or wear your Swarthmore gear to show off our school spirit! And please try to be there to cheer on — or even participate in — the Crum Regatta (April 14) and McCabe Mile (April 21), which coincide with Swatstruck.
Any gesture — however small — will help make our visitors feel at home here. Thank you for giving this some consideration. I also want to thank the Admissions staff and everyone involved in hosting what I know will be incredibly successful events.
Vice President and Dean of Admissions Jim Bock will be in touch with faculty and staff about additional ways you can help support these events.
I am proud to be part of this community, and I look forward to sharing all that we have to offer with the future members of the Class of 2027 and their families during the next few weeks.
Sincerely,
Val Smith
President
