Join Us for Garnet Day
*Please note that, in order to accommodate the final exam schedule, the inaugural Garnet Day has been extended to 1:30-4:30 p.m.
Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff Members,
Members of our community frequently observe that we have too few opportunities to gather with friends, peers, and colleagues outside of classes and meetings. As we look for new ways to come together and enjoy one another’s company, I’m happy to invite you to participate in what we hope will be a new and fun tradition: Garnet Day.
On the first Thursday of each month, we will encourage students, faculty, and staff members to take part in Garnet Day by donning their favorite Swarthmore attire as an expression of community and school spirit. We’ll hold regular Garnet Day raffles for prizes, including Swarthmore swag at the Campus & Community Store.
During our inaugural Garnet Day this Thursday, May 5, join us at the front of Parrish Hall anytime between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.* for a free Swarthmore T-shirt (please be sure to bring your OneCard), and then head over to the Rose Garden Circle to usher in the warmer weather with free popsicles and ice cream.
Those who participate will also be entered into a raffle to win Swarthmore gear from the Campus & Community Store. Anyone who picks up a free T-shirt using their OneCard will automatically be entered to win. You can also enter the raffle by posting a photo of you (and your friends and colleagues!) on Instagram wearing your Swarthmore gear and using the hashtag #GarnetDay. (Please note that we will not be able to see hashtags on accounts marked private.) Or you can submit a photo to communications@swarthmore.edu.
I look forward to seeing you in your Swarthmore gear to help kick off Garnet Day and enjoy a bit of fun as we head into the final weeks of the academic year.
Sincerely,
Val Smith
President
