At The Wedding
Acting Capstone, February 2024
You are cordially invited to the worst night of Carlo's life. In Bryna Turner's darkly hilarious and bittersweet 2022 comedy, Carlo is our miserable guide through her ex-girlfriend's wedding to a man, steadily drinking her way through conversations with a parade of other guests who have agendas, regrets, and secret heartbreaks of their own. Turner takes the familiar trappings of a wedding and uses them to build something surprising and new- according to the playwright, "a queer woman’s journey from radical despair to radical hope over the course of a single evening”. Swarthmore's production, directed by Visiting Assistant Professor of Acting Jude Sandy, features tour-de-force performances by Eva Nahass '24 as Carlo and Rose Palmieri '24 as nearly everyone else.
