Parents Involved in a Business or Partnership
Students whose parents have any interest or involvement in a partnership or corporation must submit additional documentation with their financial aid application. These documents are required from custodial parents, noncustodial parents, and stepparents who have any interest or involvement in a partnership or corporation.
Examples include:
- Federal K1 form(s)
- page 2 of Schedule E on their personal Federal Tax Return
- Federal 1065 tax form
- Federal 1120(s) tax form.
Domestic Students
You are considered a domestic student if your parents live and earn their income in the U.S., or if you are an undocumented or DACA student who will or did graduate from a U.S. high school.
If you are a domestic student whose parents and/or stepparents (if applicable) have any interest or involvement in a partnership or corporation, you must submit the following additional information for all parents and stepparents as applicable: 2017 corporate or partnership federal income tax return and all Schedule K-1 forms used to file the tax return.
International Students
You are considered an international student if your parents do not file a U.S. tax return. Undocumented or DACA students who will or did graduate from a U.S. high school are considered domestic students.
If you are an international student whose parents and/or stepparents (if applicable) have any interest or involvement in a partnership or corporation, you must submit the following additional information for all parents and step-parents as applicable: certified income and expense documentation for calendar year 2017 on company letterhead.
