"The Sacred Child: Unearthing Discrepancies in Dahl,"
This project focuses on the constructed nature of childhood in Roald Dahl's children's literature. By applying sociological texts to her reading of Dahl's work, she complicates the pieces' understanding of a sacralized notion of childhood. The paper highlights instances in which Dahl portrays his child characters as evil or unpleasant, and defines the different literary techniques that Dahl uses to resolve this schism in his understanding of childhood versus the child.
