Osazenoriuwa Ebose '15

Osazenoriuwa Ebose '15 of the Swarthmore College women's track & field team earned All-America honors by placing seventh in the shot put at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, May 23.

Ebose, a sociology and anthropology major from Scotch Plains, N.J., registered a toss that traveled 46-feet, 2-inches on her first throw of the afternoon. On Thursday, Ebose finished 17th overall in the discus throw with a toss that sailed 142-feet, 1-inches.

With the seventh-place finish, Ebose became the sixth student-athlete and first thrower in the history of the College women's track & field program to earn All-America recognition in outdoor competition. The other outdoor All-Americans from the women's track & field program are Desiree Peterkin '00 in the triple jump (1997, 1998 & 2000), Jokotade Agunloye '01 in the 5,000- and 10,000-meters (2001), Imo Akpan '02 in the 400-meters (2002), Rebecca Hammond '13 in the 1,500-meters (2013) and Katie Jo McMenamin in the 1,500-meters (2014).

Ebose finishes her stellar career with the school and conference record for the shot put (49-feet, 8.25-inches) and caps a remarkable senior campaign that saw her named the 2015 USTFCCCA Mideast Region Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year and the 2015 Centennial Conference Indoor and Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year.
