In late September, Brendan Nyhan '00, Professor of Government at Dartmouth College, delivered the annual Constitution Day and Gilbert Lecture on the state of American self government in 2020. Drawing from expert surveys conducted by Bright Line Watch, a group he co-founded, Nyhan presents research on the state of American democracy and assesses the extent to which the protections in the Constitution are preventing erosion in performance on key democratic principles and norms.
Nyhan also shared his thoughts on the 2020 presidential race in the most recent issue of the Swarthmore Bulletin.
