The Inn at Swarthmore, Broad Table Tavern, and Campus & Community Store Prep for Opening

Campus and Community Store

The Swarthmore Campus and Community Store will officially open its doors to the public on May 1.

It’s the dawn of a new era for Swarthmore, as the College prepares for the realization of a longstanding plan to create an inn, restaurant, and college and community store right at the edge of campus and across from the train station.

On Sunday, May 1, Swarthmore Campus and Community Store – formerly the Swarthmore bookstore  – will officially open its doors to the public.

The Store, which is located within The Inn at Swarthmore, will be open to the public from noon until 5:00 p.m., with a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony taking place at 2:00 p.m. during Swarthmore borough’s annual Fun Fair.

"We're really excited to be in a new location where we can serve both the campus and community needs," says Paula Dale, director of the Swarthmore Campus and Community Store.

Beginning May 2, the new Store's hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Due to the transition to a new location, the bookstore will be closed April 28-30.

Along with the Swarthmore store’s opening, community members are invited to get a first glimpse of The Inn at Swarthmore, which will officially open its doors mid-May. The Broad Table Tavern will also officially open in mid-May.

The Inn at Swarthmore staff will be on hand to provide tours on the following days:

Wednesday, May 4

Inspired by Swarthmore Borough's Revitalization Plan and consistent with the College's mission, The Inn at Swarthmore will serve as a physical and social link between the Borough and the College, promoting collaboration, communication, and opportunities for engagement involving the entire community. It will also serve as a hub of intellectual energy and a gathering place for faculty, students, and staff; for visiting scholars and speakers; for alumni, parents, prospective students and families, and friends of the College.
