War News Radio Wins Two Journalism Awards
War News Radio earned two awards from the Society of Professional Journalists this week at a conference in Portland, Maine. Reporters Elizabeth Threlkeld '09 and Cyrus Stoller '10 both received 2007 Region 1 Mark of Excellence Awards, which honor the best in collegiate journalism. Elizabeth's "A Story of Two Nose Jobs," (mp3) about two girls who underwent plastic surgery in Iraq for very different reasons, won first place in the Radio Feature category. Cyrus won second place in the same category for "Food Shopping in Baghdad," (mp3) about some of the ways Iraqis have found to safely shop for food. First place regional winners advance to the national round of judging, currently underway. National winners will be announced in mid May.
