Move In Reminders 2022
The below email was sent out on August 17th to all incoming first year students from Rebecca Weintraub-Barth, Director of Student Activities and Leadership.
Friends,
With just a few short days away from move in, we wanted to send you a prep email as you pack and prepare to join us at Swarthmore! Important information and reminders about move-in for new students and New Student Orientation are included below and we ask that you take a quick moment to read through before you head to campus next week.
If you are an early arrival already on campus, you can skip Step 1 and join us in Parrish Hall Tuesday Morning as listed in Step 2. If you are scheduled to arrive on Tuesday morning please read complete Step 1, 2, and 3. We are looking forward to your arrival and ask that you follow the below steps to help ensure a safe and orderly move-in process.
Step #1: Arrive on campus
On Tuesday, August 23rd, please arrive no earlier than 8am and no later than 12pm. You do not need to set up your entire room before Orientation begins (at 2:45 p.m.), but you may wish to arrive with enough time to start unpacking. When you arrive, please go directly to your residence hall. You can find walking and driving routes to your hall on our Move In Map.
If you are not sure of your housing assignment, please log into the Housing Portal using myswat.
When you arrive at your residence hall, volunteers will be available to help assist you with checking in and collecting your key. You will also receive 2 COVID rapid tests as per the COVID Fall 2022 update email. Please plan on unloading your vehicle at your residence hall and then moving your car to the Cunningham South Lot. The Lot is clearly marked on the move-in map. The spaces closest to the residence halls are available for loading and unloading only.
If you are arriving by Uber/Lyft or taking public transportation, please review this page for additional information for traveling to campus.
Step #2: Orientation Schedule and OneCard Pick-Up
After moving into your residence hall, please proceed to Parrish Hall to collect your OneCard, mailbox key, and Orientation instructions. Our Orientation Leaders are excited to meet you, and will be in and around Parrish Hall to welcome you.
Step #3: Dive Into Orientation!
We have shifted to a mobile friendly schedule this year! In order to see the full schedule, please find the orientation schedule on the Swarthmore College Orientation ‘26 guide on Swarthmore’s app, which you can download on the Apple store or Google Play. For a desktop version, you can find the guide here: guidebook.com/g/#/guides/
We kindly ask that families plan to say their goodbyes at the family farewell session to allow their students to fully participate and engage with the Orientation program.
We cannot wait to meet you in a few short days!
All the best,
Rebecca
