Howard Lab Alum Mary Alice Upshur Wins a NSF Graduate Fellowship

Howard Lab Alum, Mary Alice Upshur '12 , is the recipient of a NSF Graduate Fellowship for her PhD work in the Chemistry Department at Northwestern University.  She is a joint student between the Thomson and the Geiger research groups and her work focuses on the synthesis and analysis of putative secondary organic aerosol particle constituents.  Mary Alice's first year in graduate school was particularly exciting as she also won a teaching award for her work as an Organic Chemistry Teaching Assistant.  Finally, she has also received a NASA Earth and Space Science Fellowship.
