Chem Major Wins Competitive Travel Award to Present His Research
Shawn Kim '14 won a 2014 Travel Award to present his research at the Biophysical Society 58th Annual Meeting, to be held February 15-19, in San Francisco, California. Shawn is an Honors Chemistry major who has been working in the Howard Research Lab since Spring 2012, including two full summers. His research involves studying the membrane topology and structure of conformational states populated by the Influenza A M2 protein in membranes. His first summer he was funded by a grant to the Howard lab from the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases. This past summer he was awarded an HHMI Summer Research Fellowship.
