The Tri-College Summer Multicultural Institute Program is a week-long Orientation sponsored by Swarthmore, Haverford, and Bryn Mawr Colleges for first-year students who are interested in exploring issues of multicultural Identity and leadership, especially as they relate to race, class and gender. The program consists of a series of interactive workshops and seminars led by administrators and students from each of the three colleges.
The goal of the program is to enable first-year students to gain knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the curricular and co-curricular areas of campus life and learn how to become effective allies for justice within their own institutions, in the United States, and the world.
Summer Tri-Co takes place the week preceding the general first-year Orientation for each of the three colleges. Students selected to participate in the program do so with the understanding that they will engage in a process of development and change as they learn more about themselves, their identity groups, and their institutions. All entering first-year students at the Colleges are invited to apply; however, spaces are limited.
