Grant Oliphant ’83
Grant Oliphant ’83 is the new president of Heinz Endowments, a $1.5 billion foundation that is one of the largest philanthropic organizations in the United States. Oliphant rejoins Heinz Endowments after running the Pittsburgh Foundation since 2008. There, he oversaw more than $1 billion in assets and, in 2013, awarded $40.5 million in grants. He grew the foundation’s asset base by 33 percent amid the Great Recession. Before the Pittsburgh Foundation, Oliphant worked in management positions at Heinz, including vice president for programs and planning.
Oliphant serves on many boards for Pennsylvania nonprofits and the national sector, including the Center for Effective Philanthropy; Riverlife, which works to transform Pittsburgh’s riverfronts; the Council on Foundations; the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust; the Allegheny Conference on Community Development; and the Pittsburgh Advisory Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.
