Recent Alumni Events
Chicago: Chicago alumni gathered in April for “MANYA—A Living History of Marie Curie,” written and performed by Susan Marie Frontczak ’77. The one-woman drama exposes the struggles and triumphs of Marie Curie—an academically impassioned, vehemently private, fervently Polish scientist, mother, and teacher. Frontczak has performed as Marie Curie more than 300 times in 24 states and nine foreign countries.
Philadelphia: Professor of Engineering Carr Everbach joined area alumni in a tour of the Covanta Delaware Valley Waste-to-Energy Plant in Chester. Opened in 1992, the plant produces up to 80 megawatts of electricity, enough to power 50,000 homes, while disposing of up to 3,000 tons of municipal and commercial waste every day.
Boston: Visiting Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies and Lang Center for Civic and Social Responsibility Fellow George Lakey played the piano and led a group of Boston alumni in its second Springtime Broadway Sing-along.
New York: Anna Chiu ’06 and Omer Corluhan ’08 organized a Lang Scholars Alumni Happy Hour in May, a kickoff event for building a strong Lang Scholar alumni network throughout the country.
